How soon will your horse feel an effect from Vetrofen® with knocks and bumps (24 hour / 7 day course) ?
It varies depending on the severity of your horse’s condition, individual differences in metabolizing ingredients, and if they have recently stopped having other products prior to taking Vetrofen®. We find Vetrofen® to have a noticeable effect within 3 hours but most effective after 6 – 12 hours.

How soon will your horse feel an effect from Vetrofen ® with poor mobility or old age ( 21/90/180 care packs)?
In the field, professionals and Veterinarians have found that horses with poor mobility and or mild to moderate osteoarthritis feel an effect of Vetrofen® in 4-5 days after taking it, while others may feel an effect in 5-10 days or longer.

You can increase the loading strength of Vetrofen® to help horses feel an effect sooner. Ideally use two sachets in the morning and two sachets in the evening until desired effect reached (in severe conditions normally only a few days!) you then reduce amount to Maintenance PLUS, then Maintenance level. (Maintenance: One sachet daily. Maintenance PLUS: One sachet in the morning and one sachet in the evening).

Is osteoarthritis (OA) a degenerative or a metabolic disease?
It is both. Osteoarthritis (OA) is traditionally known as a degenerative joint disease caused by traumatic injury or wear and tear. OA is characterized by the breakdown of cartilage in the joints, leading to discomfort, stiffness and loss of movement. However, after the initial damage, the progression of OA generally is worsened by metabolic imbalances of arachidonic acid derived fatty acids which regulate the inflammatory processes in the body. Arachidonic acid is essential to build membranes in the body, but it is also inflammatory when in excess and could lead to further deterioration of cartilage over time. OA is the most common type of arthritis, and it can affect any joint, especially weight-bearing joints.

What are Vetrofen’s Key ingredients?
Vetrofen® is a proprietary blend of natural plants called Scutellaria baicalensis and Acacia catechu. These plants have been used in foods and health products for thousands of years in other countries, especially in Japan and China. The two key ingredients, in Vetrofen have been studied extensively around the world and are recognized for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as their exceptional safety profile. Vetrofen’s ingredients have achieved GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status, a strict food safety standard set by the FDA. The two key ingredients in general are the healthful ingredients that give color to vegetables, fruits, cocoa, red wine and green tea. However, a simple change in diet would not provide enough of them needed to manage the metabolic processes of Knocks, bumps and joint mobility / OA. In practical terms, an OA human patient would need to consume 1.2 to 2 kgs of fruit and vegetables daily in order to obtain the high concentration levels of the two key ingredients in the body that the product provides.

Should Vetrofen® be taken with NSAIDs such as Bute or other Phenylbutazone type products?
No. This could lead to side effects and also reduce the effectiveness of Vetrofen®.
